Gavin was born in Woodruff on July 9, 2003, the son of Angela L. Fanning and Chad J. Schinke. He was raised in Rhinelander and was currently a senior at Rhinelander High School. Even though his employment was brief due to his illness, Gavin enjoyed being employed at Rhinelander GM as a lube technician. He had also been employed as a delivery driver with Bucketheads. He was a member of the Northwood's Car Club due to his passion for cars. He was very proud of his 1986 Nissan 200SX. Gavin's family is very grateful to the car club members for restoring and repairing his car. This was done in hopes that Gavin would be able to recover from his illness and someday soon be able to drive again.
Gavin also loved to fish, snowmobile and be outdoors.
Gavin will always be remembered for having a big heart and being extremely helpful.
He will be dearly missed by his mom, Angela L. Fanning of Rhinelander, dad Chad J. Schinke and Kris Burzynski of Kaukauna; his sister Jasmine (Josh), brother Jaxon, half-brother Devin, four step-sisters, Heather, Brianna, Kayleigh and Morgan; maternal grandparents, Chris (Roger) Albrant of Rhinelander and Wayne (Lisa) Fanning of Monico, paternal grandparents Russell Schinke of King and Sandra (Dean) Moes of Virginia, maternal great-grandma, Phyllis McCarty of Rhinelander, honorary grandparents, Tracy and Jeff Dailey, maternal uncles Jason Fanning and Kevin Albrant, maternal aunts Makayla Fanning and Tara Brzezinski and paternal uncle, Aaron Moes. Also surviving are cousins and many friends.
The visitation for Gavin took place on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020 at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until 4 p.m.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial contributions in honor of Gavin may be given to the American Family Children's Hospital, 1675 Highland Avenue, Madison, Wisconsin 53792.
