Florence Ellen Schmidt
She was born on April 2, 1922, in Chemung, Ill., to George and Florence (Jeffrey) McRoberts. She attended schools in Janesville and graduated from Janesville High School in 1940.
Florence had been employed for many years at the library of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
She enjoyed traveling to the Southwest, nature, reading, sewing, drawing and painting, and visiting with family and friends.
Florence was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Rhinelander.
She is survived by her children: Marvin Wegner (Paula) of Altadena, Calif. and Barbara Wegner Scuglik of Rhinelander; grandchildren: Zachary (Melissa) Wegner of San Dimos, Calif., Sam (Leah) Wegner of Ventura, Calif., Hannah Wegner of Vancouver, Wash. and Jason Scuglik of Milwaukee; four great-grandchildren, and other family and friends.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, George and Florence McRoberts; husband, Henry Schmidt; brothers George, Wallace, Kenneth and Harold McRoberts; sisters, Lorraine McRoberts and Elizabeth McRoberts Keith and by one granddaughter, Andrea Scuglik.
A Graveside Service will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2020 at Northland Memorial Park Cemetery in Rhinelander where Florence will be laid to rest.
