He married his high school sweetheart, Jean Carlson, in March 1968 and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage. He started at Rhinelander Paper Mill in 1965 and after his service continued to work with all of his closest friends until his retirement in 2007.
Russ was an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, camping and shooting trap. He especially enjoyed his yearly trip to Canada hunting waterfowl. Also, he loved catfishing. He spent many mornings on the water in pursuit of the mighty "catfish". Russ advocated and taught those just learning the outdoors to be respectful and do it the "right" way. Russ had many friends that he had met through his journey in life. He will be missed greatly.
Russ is survived by his wife, Jean; son, Ryan (Sonya) and grandchildren Sofia and Emmett and many nieces and nephews. Russell is also survived by his siblings Gary (Sherry), Elaine and LeRoy. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Tara, son Joshua, sisters Sandra and Evelyn and brother Rodger.
There will be no formal services at this time for Russ due to the current situation. You may leave your private condolences for the Fish family at www.carlsonfh.com.
The Carlson Funeral Home(715-369-1414) is handling the arrangements for the Fish family.
