Carol was preceded in death by her parents Gordon and Agnes Jackson; her brother Sonny Jackson; two sons Kurt Junkermann and Terry Junkermann and step-granddaughter Amanda Keck. She is survived by her husband Charles Rasmussen; sons Perry (Nancy) Junkermann, Kelly (Rosemary) Junkermann, Brad Junkermann and daughter Karen (Chris) Nolan; grandchildren James Henk, Chelsea Junkermann, Johanna (Dustin) Lederer, Karissa Nolan, Chance (Gracie) Junkermann and Lucas Junkermann; great-grandchildren Cohen Junkermann, Loral Lederer and Zayden Zuelke; brothers Roy Jackson and Tom (Gaela) Jackson; sisters Nancy (Arnie) Baugnet and Lynn Wagoner; sister-in-law Rosemarie Jackson; numerous nieces and nephews.
Living in scenic "Hodag" country, Carol was known for breathing life into paintings of birds, animals and the Northwoods scenes that surrounded her. Throughout her career art patrons sought her out leaving her legacy worldwide through her brush strokes. She started her artistic career in high school as a photo colorist for a local studio in Green Bay. She later went on the Layton School of Art in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Throughout her career she has earned numerous Best-of-Show and purchase awards for her nostalgic and magical creations.
Her favorite paintings were pet portraits and was sought after by numerous pet owners to memorialize their furry family.
Carol was also known as a gourmet cook who spoiled those she loved with exquisite offerings. In her younger days she always made sure to bring homemade soup and other handcrafted treats to the elderly in her neighborhood as she checked in on them. She was a supporter of the animal shelter and provided homes to many cats and dogs through the years. She loved all animals. The family always enjoyed poker at gatherings and kids grew up playing UNO with Grandma. She was shrewd at both games and everyone knew lovingly that Mom/Grandma did not like to lose! When she was able, Carol sought solace in gardening and fishing. She loved watching the birds and other wildlife in her yard and always put food out for them.
In accordance with Carol's wishes there will be no funeral service or visitation. Her ashes will be laid to rest in Northland Cemetery, Rhinelander, this summer when her family hosts a Celebration of her Life.
