Pauline Zwickey, age 86, of Rhinelander, passed away March 23, 2020, at her home. Pauline was born July 10, 1933, to Virginia (Bernstein) Gross and Roy Gross. She was a lifelong resident of Rhinelander. Pauline graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1951.

While raising five children, Pauline still found the time to work at her church, Immanuel Lutheran Church, also serving on their board and teaching Sunday school. Other jobs Pauline worked included The Daily News, Dr. Rolhoff Chiropractic Office, Ripco Credit Union and in later years the job she was most proud of Zwickey Fur Farm. After retirement she also served as a board member for Ripco Credit Union.

Pauline enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting, crossword puzzles, fishing, traveling and in later years casino trips. But most of all she enjoyed her family and getting everyone together. You always knew there would be a big get-together with Mom for Fourth of July picnics, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter Egg Hunt or a cookout just because all the kids had come home. Everyone always enjoyed the good food and fun when we were together and because of her great example we will always continue these traditions.

At Pauline's 40th class reunion she and Doug Zwickey reconnected, which turned out to be a blessing for both of them. They married in 1993 and enjoyed 27 years together. They were able to travel worldwide including Australia, Europe, Hawaii, Alaska and Doug's favorite - St. Kitts. They also enjoyed many winters in Gulf Shores where they would get together with new and old friends and family. Besides traveling they also enjoyed playing cribbage, going out to eat and spending time with their combined family of 7 children.

Pauline is survived by her husband Doug, her children Michael (Karen) Piehl of Rhinelander, Nancy (Calvin) Theroux of White Bear Lake, Minn., Tom (Carrie) Zimmer of Eau Claire, David (Annette) Zimmer of Spring Grove, Ill., Steve (Dena) Zimmer of St Paul, Minn.; Doug's children, Jean (Kevin) Krueger of Thiensville, Dawn (Terry) Berndt of Rhinelander; grandchildren Erin (Zach) Lundmark of Maple Grove, Minn., Megan Piehl of Madison, Jake Theroux of White Bear Lake, Minn., Amy (Steve) Gallagan of White Bear Lake, Minn., Brian Theroux of Centerville, Minn., Matt Theroux of Centerville, Minn., Hannah (Deion) Sonsalla of Maple Grove, Minn., Ian Zimmer of Eau Claire, Ryan Zimmer of Spring Grove, Ill., Sammi Zimmer of Spring Grove, Ill.; great-grandchildren Rylee Lundmark, Reagan Lundmark, Kaydence Nickaboine, Andrew Gallagan; brothers Jim Gross of Rhinelander, Jack (Mary) Gross of Rhinelander.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents Virginia and Roy Gross and her first husband Fred (Wheazer) Piehl.

Because of the current situation, services are on hold at this time. When able, a memorial service will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rhinelander. Pauline's wish was to be cremated. You may leave your private condolences for Pauline's family at www.carlsonfh.com. The Carlson Funeral Home (715) 369-1414 is serving the family.
