Some people only walk this Earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. On March 20, Carrie gained her wings. She was called to heaven by her parents, Eugene and Donnamae Alsteen. She passed peacefully in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren. Carrie was born on Oct. 21, 1964 to Eugene and Donnamae (Biesik) Alsteen in Rhinelander.

In her free time, she loved crafting (mostly crocheting) but her real passion was caring for others. When she wasn't taking care of her family, Carrie was caring for others at Friendly Village. Carrie worked as a caregiver at Friendly Village for many years. She found her work rewarding.

Carrie's battle with cancer was short but from the day she was diagnosed, she stayed positive and strong for her family. She would never show how scared she truly was.

Carrie is survived by her husband of 31 years, Eric Schweiger; her four children, sons Ricky Reinke, Eugene (Jana Davidowski) Reinke, Curtis Schweiger, daughter Karissa (Josh Olson) Schweiger; five grandchildren Lillian, Eugene Jr, Piper, Evan and Emery; two sisters Genevieve Lambert and Cindy Alsteen; and two brothers, Herbie Alsteen and George Alsteen.

There are no events scheduled at this time.

In lieu of flowers, you may plant a tree in memory of Carrie. You may leave your private condolences for the Schweiger family at www.carlsonfh.com.

The Carlson Funeral Home(715-369-1414) is handling the arrangements for the Schweiger family.
