Delores "Dee Dee" Counter
She was born on Oct. 11, 1923 in Rhinelander, the daughter of John and Cora (Johnson) Petta.
Dee Dee was a lifelong resident of Rhinelander. She graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1941. On Jan. 12, 1946 she married the love of her life, Raymond "Babe" Counter. Babe died at an early age and Dee Dee cherished every moment God gave them together.
Dee Dee was employed by the Cihla & Associates Insurance Agency for 25 years and then for the Northern Area Agency on Aging for another 25 years, retiring at the age of 85..
Dee Dee was a lifelong member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. She had a lot of family in Rhinelander and enjoyed all the holidays and get-togethers throughout the years. She loved playing cards, especially "Zion Check", and she was good at it. She was also always the best friend of the kids. When Mom and Dad said "no more pop" Dee Dee would always sneak you a little bit more.
The love of her life was her daughter and grandchildren who survive her, daughter Nancy (Bruce) Kotarski, her grandchildren Nicole (Alex) Ashton and Dana Kotarski and many Godchildren. In addition to Babe she was also preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Lorraine Krouze, Deana Naug and Jean Tallier and her brother Jack Petta.
Funeral services are on hold until the passing of the current situation. Visitation and funeral services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church at a later date. At this time she will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Forest Home Cemetery. You may leave your private condolences for Dee Dee's family at www.carlsonfh.com.
