Snowmobile trails close in Oneida and Vilas counties, still open in Iron
The Oneida County Forestry Department stated this week that due to recent warm temperatures and rapidly deteriorating snowmobile trail conditions, the trails in the county closed Tuesday, March 10 at noon.
On Wednesday morning, Vilas County recreation program coordinator Dale Mayo issued a statement notifying the public Vilas County snowmobile trails closed for the season at noon, Friday, March 13.
Iron County also had no plans to close trails as of press time. The forestry and parks department said trails may not be in perfect condition in some areas, but the trails through the woods, which are not as influenced by the sun, are still in great winter riding condition. They invite riders looking for great late-season riding to head up to Iron County and enjoy their many miles of trails.
