Kelly M. Roou
Kelly was born in Urbana, Ill. on Monday, March 23, 1964, the daughter of Gerald S. and Marie H. (Nemluvil) Roou.
After her birth, the family moved to Japan living there for three years. They later returned to the states and lived in Omaha, Neb. for two years. At the age of five, the family moved to Turkey, living there for five years. The family came back to the states living in Antigo. They then moved to the Island of Crete living there for a few years. The family came back to the United States settling in Rhinelander in 1977. Kelly was a 1982 graduate of Rhinelander High School.
She was employed in health care throughout her life. She was united in marriage to Marty Strelow in Eagle River. The couple were married for 15 years but were together for 30 years. They later were divorced. Kelly attended Nicolet College where she earned a degree in Culinary Arts in 2016.
She enjoyed the Minocqua Drumming Circle, kayaking, hiking, cooking and being outdoors.
She will be dearly missed by her father, Jerry; children: Nicholas Strelow of Eagle River, and Brianna (Coty) Hazelett of Minocqua; three grandchildren: Quinn Hazelett, Elijah Hazelett and Raya Strelow; fiancé, Erick Runkle of Rhinelander; one brother, Scott (Diana) Roou of Rhinelander; two sisters, Ritha (Kelly) Citron-Little of Ada. Okla. and Bethany (Jake) ReMine of Rush City, Minn. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mom, Marie, in 1997; paternal grandparents, Spencer and Margaret Roou and maternal grandparents, Stanley and Alvina Nemluvil.
A Celebration of Kelly's Life will take place at a later date.
