Hodag Lanes will host "Scarlett's Dream," a local fundraising effort to benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital, from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 15.

Free pizza and soda will be provided, in addition to kid-friendly activities including games, face painting and open bowling.

Patrons will also have a chance to win several gift baskets and other raffle prizes provided by local sponsors in an effort to meet their $10,000 fundraising goal.

There is a $5 cover charge for adults, but kids 10-years-old and younger are allowed free entry.

Local father Dave Brogli was inspired to put on this fundraising effort to support the hospital which saved his daughter Scarlett, who had a close encounter early in life.

"When she was a year old, my wife and I almost lost her due to pneumonia," Brogli explained.

Brogli and his wife brought Scarlett in to the doctor for what seemed to be the flu, but Brogli said they knew it was much more than that. After the young couple was initially sent home with their sick child, they quickly returned to find a mass the size of a half dollar, indicating a severe case of pneumonia. Their daughter was flown to Marshfield Clinic, where she stayed in the NICU for five long nights.

"I prayed to St. Jude the night this all happened," Brogli said. "He answered my prayers and they saved my girl's life."

Brogli said he is indebted to St. Jude, the patron saint of hope and impossible causes, and the hospital which supported his family in their time of need. Although this is their first time fundraising, he and his family hope to give back to the hospital which gave them their daughter's life.

A proud father, Brogli looks to share his story and hopes others will come out in support of St. Jude Children's Hospital

"Sixteen years later, Scarlett is alive and healthy," Brogli said. "She has the beauty of her mom and the naughtiness of her dad; she's the most perfect girl in the world."

The Broglis encourage the community to show their support this coming weekend.
