Ron was born in Green Bay in 1932 to Ralph W and Jean McCauley Morrell. He attended Green Bay public schools, graduating from Green Bay West in June 1950. Ron was drafted into the U.S. Army December, 1952 and served in Korea from May 1953-October 1954.
He was honorably discharged in October, 29, 1954.
Ron enrolled in UW Stevens Point in August 1955 and graduated with a double major in Natural Resources and Biology in June 1959.
Ron married Alice Decleene on Nov. 28, 1959 at St Mary's of DePere. The newlyweds settled in Manitowoc. After 2 years in Manitowoc, they were off to East Lansing, Mich. to attend MSU Graduate School of Social Work, graduating in June 1963.
The Morrell family ultimately settled in Rhinelander in July 1965. Ron was preceded in death by Ralph (Jean) Morrell and second wife Patricia Smaglick Morrell and stepson Christopher Smaglick. He is survived by his loving family, children: Steven (Sue) Morrell, Amy (Dave) Gearing, Lynn (Tom) Johnson and Beth (Mark) Vandervest, James (Nancy) Smaglick Jr, Michael (Mary Tee) Smaglick, Maria (Paul) Smith and Shannon Smaglick; grandchildren: Justin (Dana), Tara, Jacob, Courtney (Caleb), Megan & Alli (Andrew), David, Kristine (Keith), Maren (Ed), Mathew, Katelyn, Sam & Max; great=grandchildren: James, Sawyer, Emma, Hailey and Braxton.
He will be remembered by his love of fishing, camping and outdoors. He was a kind, loving and devoted family man!

A memorial service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 8950 Co Hwy J, Woodruff, WI 54568 on Aug. 29, 2020 at 11 a.m.
