Plea hearing set for Minocqua man charged with child sexual assault
According to the criminal complaint filed in the case, Ryan T. Boze described various sexual acts he and a 13-year-old performed during an overnight visit at a Minocqua apartment March 24, 2019.
After first telling officers the encounter was "consensual," Boze referred to himself as a "pedophile" and offered to apologize to the girl's parents, the complaint states.
At a hearing June 2, Boze's attorney Jonathan Evans Barnett told Oneida County Circuit Judge Patrick O'Melia that an agreement had been reached with assistant district attorney Jillian Pfeifer.
O'Melia scheduled a plea hearing for 9 a.m. June 25.
Boze was later charged with lewd and lascivious behavior and resisting an officer, both class A misdemeanors, in connection with a Dec. 27, 2019 incident at the Oneida County jail where he has been held since his arrest on the original charge.
A $10,000 cash bond was set in the underlying case.
Boze faces up to 40 years in prison for the class C felony, along with a fine of up to $100,000.
