Betty Jane Schmidt
Betty graduated from Wauwatosa High School in 1946 and married Donald Schmidt on July 1, 1947 in Ashville, N.C., and enjoyed 64 years of marriage. Betty and her husband farmed for many years in the Ixonia area and she also worked in the office of the Stokely Canning Company until her retirement. After her retirement Betty and Donald moved to the beautiful north woods. Betty enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers, loved to cook, read, and knit afghans and her popular Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer Christmas stockings. Betty loved life and especially all of her family.
Betty will be deeply missed by her family and close friends. She is survived by her daughter Linda (Jonathan) Blank of McNaughton, sons Steven (Jill) Schmidt of Matlock, England, John (Juliene) Schmidt of Jefferson; grandchildren Amanda Bushman, Marisa (Curt) Keeser, Megan (Nicholas) Kinsella, Christopher (Holly) Schmidt, Amy Schmidt, Jordan (Diane) Schmidt, Janelle Schmidt, Alexander Schmidt; great-grandchildren Karsen, Noah, Nolan, Esme, Skye, Marie, Oliver, and another on the way. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, other family, and many friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 27, 2011; her parents, sisters Marian (Bob) MacGinnis, and Elaine (Harold) Barkow.
The family would like to thank the staff of Ascension Health at Home, especially Sandy, Gabby and Lory for the loving care that was given to Betty.
There will be a private family service held for Betty at the Carlson Funeral Home with a burial at Newbold Cemetery immediately following. You may leave your private condolences for the Schmidt family at www.carlsonfh.com. The Carlson Funeral Home(715-369-1414) is handling the arrangements for the Schmidt family.
