Loretta married Bill Julian on May 14, 1948, in Princeton, Ind. Loretta and Bill were blessed with 66 years of marriage. Loretta supported Bill his entire Army career accompanying him from Wisconsin to Germany. She also spent countless hours praying for his safe return from active duty in the Korean and Vietnam wars. When Bill retired from the military and began a second career with Boy Scouts as Camp Tesomas Director, Loretta was by his side making a lifetime friendships with the many camp counselors and staff that worked summers at the camp.
Loretta spent 15 years working as a secretary for the First United Methodist Church. She was an accomplished bookkeeper and used her skills supporting the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a member for more than 50 years.
Together Bill and Loretta managed der Hinterland Tree Farm. She helped collect maple sap and boiled it down for syrup. Loretta was known for her annual production of creamed honey that she made from Bill's beekeeping endeavors.
In her spare time, Loretta loved to read books and was a loyal patron of the Rhinelander District Library where the staff always made sure she had a ready supply of enjoyable books. Loretta was also known for her love of baking. She provided countless pans of bars and cookies for luncheons, fund raisers, and church coffee hours. Loretta was always on the lookout for a new recipe to try out.
Loretta will be remembered for her gracious heart, thankful attitude, and never wanting to be a bother or burden to anyone. She maintained close relationships with her family in Indiana, in particular Peg and Joe Jenkins, whose annual visits she eagerly anticipated. Loretta loved all of her friends and visitors that came to see her at Milestone. Visitors brightened her days and brought true joy to her heart. She loved to chat, enjoy a home-baked treat or a special meal with friends or a heartfelt note or a bouquet of flowers. Loretta's face showed pure joy when she talked about who came to visit today.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Milestone Assisted living and Ascension Hospice care for the endearing support they provided.
Visitation for Loretta will be from 10 to 11 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church. The Reverend Mark Klaisner will officiate. All planning to attend will be required to wear a mask and all social distancing standards will be observed. Interment will be in the Newbold Memorial Cemetery. A memorial is being established for either the First United Methodist Church or Wild Instincts. You may leave your private condolences at www.carlsonfh.com.
