She married Robert Meyer on May 14,1948, in Rhinelander, and they made their home here. They had four children, Rebecca, Gloria, Susan and Christine. Doris worked some, (she loved talking about working in Bernie's Waffle Shop with her sister as teenagers to raise money to get her brother a bicycle), but her main focus was always family.
She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brewers baseball, Packers football, reminiscing about growing up on the "Reardon Farm", music (especially banjo music), watching "Jeopardy" and the occasional trip to the casino with her sisters. Her quick wit and wry sense of humor was enjoyed by all who knew her. She was selfless and always put loved ones ahead of herself and family meant the world to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert; daughter, Susan (Ron Smith) Yeater; grandson Andy Zick Jr.; siblings: Lucy (Martin) Langbecker, Lillian (John) Alsteen, Bernice (Vic) Kuschel, Joan (Louis) Reese, Rosalie (Lee) Fessenden, Robert (Helen) Coleman, Ronald (Sandy) Coleman, Douglas Coleman, Bruce Coleman, and Roger Coleman.
Doris is survived by sisters Luella Jones and Barbara Slay; children Rebecca Marhal, Gloria (Jeff) Tyvoll and Christine (Andy) Zick; grandchildren: Mary (Jeff) Nelson, Nicole Schoenick, Ryan Schoenick, Michelle Lemmerman Brakke, Mikolaj Marhal, Andreanna Zick, Hayley (Justin) Letkiewicz and Tara Jordan. Also surviving are many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
There will be a private interment at Northland Memorial Park. At this time no services will be held. A gathering in her honor will be held at a later date due to concerns of the current spread of Covid. She would want you all to be safe.
