According to a press release issued by Oneida County sheriff's captain Terri Hook, the sheriff's office received a 911 call at approximately 4:22 p.m. Thursday reporting a vehicle versus an ATV crash on U.S. Highway 8 near 4th Street in Monico.
"The ATV was operated by a juvenile and the two juveniles on the ATV were not wearing helmets," the release said. "Upon arrival, deputies found that the juveniles had minor injuries and upon their parents' request they were not transported to the hospital. The driver of the vehicle was headed westbound when the ATV pulled out in front of the vehicle. The vehicle struck the rear of the ATV. The operator of the ATV had their ATV safety certificate. The operator of the ATV stated they did not see the vehicle coming."
The sheriff's office was assisted at the scene by Three Lakes Police Department, Oneida County Ambulances Medic 8 and Rhinelander Ambulance 92, Monico Fire Department, and Monico First Responders.
