According to a criminal complaint filed June 30, Amy Catherine Bock has been charged with one count of neglecting a child - specified harm did not occur and child under 6 years of age.
The charge, a Class I felony, requires the state to prove that Bock was responsible for the welfare of a child under the age of 6, and through her action, for reasons other than poverty, did negligently fail to provide protection from exposure to the distribution or manufacture of controlled substances, or controlled substance analogs, or to drug abuse, so as to seriously endanger the physical, mental, or emotional health of the child, although the harm did not actually occur.
According to the complaint, a hair sample taken from Bock's child, "tested positive for the following substances: Methamphetamine in a quantity greater than 10,000 pg/mg, Cocaine in a quantity of 1,518 pg/mg, Methadone in a quantity of 389 pg/mg, opiates metabolized as 6-MAM in a quantity of 733 pg/mg, and cannabinoids metabolized as Carboxy-THC in a quantity of 0.22 pg/mg and Native THC in a quantity of 1,484 pg/mg."
The complaint states that the sample was collected after police received information that the child was living in a residence frequented by a number of adults who were using methamphetamine, and other controlled substances, on the premises.
Bock made her initial appearance in Oneida County Circuit Court July 6 at which time a $5,000 signature bond was set.
She is due back in court July 23 for a preliminary hearing. If convicted, she faces up to three years, six months in prison.
