Rodger Szopa
He was born in Mattoon on Aug. 16, 1941 to Stanley and Lorraine (née Leiskau) Szopa.
Rodger's family moved to Three Lakes in 1944 or 1945. He attended school in Three Lakes and graduated in 1960.
In March of 1961 he enlisted in the Air Force and served until March of 1965 when he was honorably discharged.
He went to work for General Electric Medical Systems in March 1965 and worked there till January 1981.
On Nov. 5, 1966 he married Mary Kriesel in Milwaukee. They resided there until December 1980.
In February 1987 he went to work for the Three Lakes Sanitary District. He retired from there in February of 2005.
Rodger is survived by his wife: Mary Szopa; brother: Jean Szopa; a niece and nephew, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, June Simon.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020 at the Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
