Lorraine was born Jan. 24, 1913, in Rhinelander, to Belle (Wilman) and Arlie Doherty. She graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1931 and was a lifelong resident of Rhinelander.
Lorraine married Carl E. Sandvick of Superior on Aug. 26, 1935. She was married for 45 years until he passed in 1981. They were blessed with three children.
Lorraine was a lifelong and active member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school. She was a member of the Rhinelander Junior and Senior Woman's Clubs, Order of the Eastern Star and many card groups. She enjoyed volunteering at the church and the hospital, skiing with her family, traveling and was an avid bridge player.
Lorraine loved to golf and was a longtime member of the Rhinelander Country Club.
She is survived by her son R.C. and his wife Evelyn of Ardmore, Okla.; her daughter Carlyn Dull of Wales, Wis.; grandchildren Chris Sandvick, Erik Sandvick, Missie Hill, Ashley Faulk and their spouses; seven great-grandchildren Carlee Sandvick, Ellie Hill, Kaylee Hill, Blaire Sandvick, Hutchinson Sandvick, Townsend Sandvick and Lydia Faulk; nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceeded in death by her husband Carl, her son Tom, her parents, her brothers Ralph and Don and their spouses, and her son-in-law, Jack Dull.
The visitation for Lorraine will take place on Friday evening, Jan. 31, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hildebrand Funeral Home.
A second visitation will take place on Saturday morning, Feb. 1, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church, 724 Arbutus Street, Rhinelander, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Celebration of Lorraine's Life. Rev. Mark Klaisner will be officiating. Interment will take place at the Forest Home Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in memory of Lorraine may be given to First United Methodist Church, 724 Arbutus Street, Rhinelander, Wisconsin 54501 or to SMH Foundation - Hospice, 111 E. Davenport Street #101, Rhinelander, Wisconsin 54501.
