Upon his honorable discharge from the service, Tom returned to Rhinelander. He went to work as the city reporter for the Rhinelander Daily News for one year and then as the wire editor for another eight years. Then from 1970 to 1984 Tom taught English at the Rhinelander/James Williams Junior High School. Tom was proud of both the Rhinelander Junior and Senior High and was somewhat of a historian for both of them.
Tom had been an active member of the First Baptist Church in Rhinelander. He served as a deacon and church clerk for a number of years. He was later certified as a licensed lay pastor and frequently filled the pulpit and taught Bible studies. In 2007 he became a member of the Faith Baptist Church where he continued serving His Lord and Savior. He loved his church and his church family.
Tom is survived by several cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service for Tom will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Faith Baptist Church with his friend and Pastor Mark Ring officiating. He will be laid to rest with his parents in the Forest Home Cemetery at a later date.
