"The 4th grade students, their families and the teachers at Pelican Elementary had a fabulous night of getting to know each other better while putting their learning to "task", Pelican officials reported.
Mrs. Mannikko greeted and welcomed families to Pelican Elementary's Fourth Grade Family Night. Families were invited to visit four separate classrooms, where four different activities awaited them.
"Students in Miss Piburn's class demonstrated how they apply their math strategies and skills, playing a variety of math games," the release said. "Ms. Heller and Miss Roesler wanted parents to experience the 'Morning Meeting' that is used by all classrooms at Pelican Elementary to build classroom community. Mrs. Bodentsteiner had hands-on art for students to partake in... so, next time you are at Pelican, be sure to observe their handiwork. Finally, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Walentowski blended the EL-Curriculum module on 'Animal Defense Mechanisms' with a lego building activity. Students were required to read clues and build an animal. They ended up with quite a zoo by the end of the evening, including a zookeeper."
