It is with great sadness for the loss of our mom and with great joy to celebrate her well-lived long life that we announce the passing of Ann Yentzer. Ann was a long-time resident of Rhinelander and passed peacefully at age 88 on Jan. 9, 2020.

Ann was adopted as young girl in Ripon by Berta and Walter Amend, the postmaster and the owner of an old-time grocery store in the small central Wisconsin town. She attended Ripon college and graduated as a music major. More significantly it was at college that she met her future husband, Leighton Yentzer from Chicago Heights, Ill. They married in June 1953 and moved to Rhinelander to settle down and start their family.

Ann was a very active artist, and painting and photography were her passions until dementia slowed her down as she aged. She won many awards for her work and was a member of the Jack Pine Artists and the Wisconsin Artists Association. She was also a "red hat" lady and blossomed and felt comfortable with her many friends over the years. She was an Avon lady and a Watkins rep, and a Fuller Brush Dealer with an award of recognition for over 40 years of service.

She had four children, Michael (Sally), Patrick (Lisa), Julie and Peter (Dianne). They lived on Messer Street until they bought and moved to their home of many years in 1962 on Oneida Ave. and Frederick Street. Ann and Leighton had four grandchildren, Adam and Amber from Julie's family, and Clark and Brad from Pat's family. Ann's beloved husband passed away in 2006.

As a family we were blessed, only seeing love, grace and peace, always feeling loved, never wanting for the simple comforts of life and learning to love and be grateful for our blessings. It is a challenge to summarize a long happy life in a short obituary with just words when emotions run so deep. The circle of life goes on and death is part of life.

There will be no public service; if you knew our mom or her family, take a moment to count a few of the blessings of your life and be grateful. Please think a kind thought for Ann Yentzer and all she brought to the world. Do something nice for someone still here.

You may leave your private condolences for the Yentzer family at www.carlsonfh.com.

The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is handling the arrangements for the family.
