His death was due to complications involving vascular dementia, 100 percent hearing loss, congestive heart failure and aortic stenosis.
He was born in Mosinee on Aug. 31, 1932 to the late Carroll and Jennie Truax.
Bob is survived by his wife Kristine (Bassett) and Kobe, his emotional support dog; his sisters Betty (Roger) Kage of Wisconsin, Marilyn (Martin) Glatczak of Wisconsin, Barbara (Roger) Senoraske of Wisconsin, Linda (Warren) Scott of Virginia and Dixie (Joe) Falkowski of Mississippi; his children, Lita Beck of Alaska, Randy (Mary) Truax of Arizona, Brad (Cheryl) Truax of Alaska; stepchildren, Vicki Kerr of Wisconsin and Benjamin (Kerry) Bassett of Michigan; grandchildren, Rhiannon (Waylon) Flemming of Kansas, Joelle Truax of Arizona, Bradley Truax of Alaska, Avery Beck of California, Katelyn (Josh) Disney of Kansas, Timothy Truax of Arizona, George Kerr of Arizona, Alaina Kerr of Wisconsin, Nick Sneller of Wisconsin and Olivia Sneller of Wisconsin; great-grandchildren, Olive Beck of California and Hunter Flemming of Kansas; special friends and caregivers Judy Gartmann and Joy Ratliff;
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Downs and Janice Kohler, two brothers Frank Truax and Jim Truax, his first wife, mother of his children, Joan Boettcher, and his lifelong friend, Allan Albrecht.
Mr. Truax was a flooring installer until retirement at age 75 and was owner of Mountain flooring in Mosinee.
Bob loved his pets, deer hunting and in later years watching wildlife from the window. He loved cars and trucks. He owned many in his life, and often they were very fast. His favorite song was Faster Cars, Younger Women, Older Whiskey and more money.
He graduated in 1950 from high school in Wittenberg-Birnamwood. He was a Korean War era veteran serving in Korea 1951 to 1953. He lived in Wasilla and Palmer, Alaska; Mosinee, Rib Mountain, Tomahawk and lastly Rhinelander.
Services will be held on March 1 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 203 E. Monico St., Rhinelander. Visitation is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. with the service to follow at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service.
