JWMS students made paper origami cranes, also known as peace cranes. The cranes were available at select local businesses in exchange for a $1 donation to the Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing (NATH) which operates the Frederick Place homeless shelter in Rhinelander.
NATH assists many of the JWMS students and their families with food and shelter, finding them housing, and connecting them to community supports, according to a school district press release.
The project raised a total of $190 for NATH.
The following PIE businesses had the peace cranes available for donations:
Diel Insurance
Marshfield Clinic Dental
Nicolet National Bank
O'Melia, Schiek & McEldowney
Park City Credit Union
Peoples State Bank
Wisconsin Public Services
WXPR
YMCA of the Northwoods
