Rhinelander had the top finisher overall in both the boys' and girls' 3.5-kilometer freestyle races. Mason Shinners was the overall boys' champion, covering the course in 14 minutes, 6 seconds. Nora Rutkowski was the girls' champion (15:13).
Olin Slette was the top finisher in the boys' fifth-and-sixth-grade division, and took sixth overall with a time of 15:26. Iain Rumney was 10th (17:01), Austen Slette was 14th (20:36) and Carter Nelson was 17th (22:30).
Brynn Teter was third in the seventh-and-eighth grade division, and fifth overall in the girls' race (16:28). Katie Marshall was 13th (20:46) and Mya Gillen finished 18th.
The middle school Nordic ski team is in Cable this weekend for the WNSL state championships.
