Leroy Joseph Gretzinger, age 80, of Argonne, passed away peacefully on Jan. 30, 2020 at his winter home in Everglades City, Fla. with his wife Ruby (Wagoner) Gretzinger of 60 years by his side.

Leroy was born Sept. 29, 1939, in Argonne, to Roy and Lela Gretzinger.

He graduated from Crandon High School in 1958 and helped to carry on the family farm.

On June 6, 1959 he married Ruby (Wagoner) Gretzinger in Crandon and had seven wonderful children. Their family was built on faith and hard work.

Leroy started his long career in carpentry first starting with remodeling projects and building homes.

L. Gretzinger Construction LLC built many beautiful homes throughout the Crandon area and Leroy will be remembered for the craftsmanship that he has passed to family members along the way.

The family also enjoyed their Christmas tree farm; selling to many families both near and far.

Leroy loved living in Argonne. He enjoyed working in the woods, farming, hunting with his family, attending family sporting events and the Brush Run.

He was a member of Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Leroy's winter getaway in Florida provided him 27 sunny years of fishing and card playing with Ruby, his family, and friends.

Leroy is survived by his wife Ruby (Wagoner) Gretzinger; his seven children: Colette (Donnie) Dehart, Susan (friend Don) Deer, Linda (Jamie) Cline, Colleen (Jeff) Kincaid, Leroy I "Sonny" (Jenny) Gretzinger, Gary (Lisa) Gretzinger, and Richard (Casey) Gretzinger; 18 grandchildren: Derek (Nahal), Devon, and Deion Dehart, Candi (Craig) Smith, Craig (Sierra) Deer, Jimmie (Sarah) Bradley, Jenna (Sean) Aderholdt, Jesse Cline, and Julia (friend Ethan) Cline, Kasey (Kyle) Keao, Keegan (Kathryn) Kincaid, Kory (fiance Annie) Kincaid, Sydney and Chevy Gretzinger, Dillon (Andrea) Gretzinger, Lester (friend Tina) and Will and Abram Gretzinger.

Leroy was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren, with two additional on the way.

Leroy is also survived also by seven siblings: Marian (Ken) Keepers, Carl (Lori) Gretzinger, Myrna (Mike) Lane, Elsie (Lowell) Wagoner, Dale (Cindy) Gretzinger, Carol (Phil) Voll, and Anne (fiance Jim) Loduha.

Leroy joins his parents Roy and Lela Gretzinger in heaven along with in-laws Lola and Isom Wagoner, brother-in-law Garland Wagoner and sister-in-law Kathy Wagoner.

The celebration Mass of Leroy's life will be held on Friday, Feb. 7 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crandon with Father Callistus Elue officiating.

Visitation will be at the church from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

A burial service will take place at the Crandon Lakeside Cemetery with a meal to follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Hall.

Leroy will be remembered as a loving, kind and humble man who cherished his faith and family.
