Eugene was much loved and will be dearly missed. He will be remembered as a kind, empathetic, loving family man who enjoyed traveling, storytelling, music and reading. Also known as Daddy, Uncle Beans, Gene, Ken, Chief, and Grandpa, this verse best describes him: "Love is patient, Love is kind...it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."
Eugene was born on March 12, 1925 in Rhinelander. He resided there until joining the Navy in 1944 as a dental technician. He proudly served, achieving the rank of E-9. He served on the USS New Jersey, Siboney and aircraft carrier Randolph before switching to shore duty. After a career spanning 30 years, including being appointed Senior Enlisted Advisor at COMSERVPAC in Hawaii from 1970-1971, Master Chief Kennedy retired in 1974 in Norfolk, Va.
In 1975 he moved to Colorado Springs where he was employed by the Post Office.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Ann (aka Nancy); daughters Kathleen (Ted) McCullough of Richmond, Va. and Sharon (David) Daniels of Eau Claire; grandchildren: Mathew (Amanda) McCullough and Kate (Danny) Fraley of Richmond, Va.; Kennedy Smith of Chippewa Falls, Sarah Jean (Scott) Vissers of De Pere; Karyn Kennedy of Oregon and Baylee Kennedy, Jacksonville, Fla; six great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R.J. & Ellen Kennedy & stepmother, Lillian; brother Robert, sisters Lois Wesley and Lorraine Bloomquist; and his son Jon Eugene.
