Prior to marriage Clara worked as a caregiver at NuRoc Nursing Home in Blackwell and The Ford Nursing Home in Rhinelander. After marriage she cooked at Newbold School for many years. Clara was known for her excellent cooking and baking skills and was the happiest when cooking for her family and friends. She loved company and having family around. She always had something delicious to serve if you stopped by for a visit and never wanted anyone to leave. She was "Mom" to many. Along with such a kind heart. She was an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables and loved to share her bounty with family and friends. She enjoyed canning and made the best pickles. She worked and assisted her husband in their logging business for many years. She was a member of the Newbold Fireflies and volunteered with the Wisconsin Trailblazers Sled Dog Club for many years. She made many friends and lasting memories during that time.
Clara is survived by her husband Duncan McRae, her daughter Denise (Kenneth) Busko, and her son Douglas (Tracy) McRae, all in Newbold. She is further survived by a brother, Kenneth Kimball (Jacquie Tuesburg) of DePere, sister Ila (Adrian) Turgeon of Rhinelander, brother-in-law Nordell Young of Appleton, sisters-in-law Pasty Kimball and Charlene Kimball, both of Fond du Lac; eight grandchildren: Marc Busko, David (Samantha) Busko, Shane (Kaylee) McRae, Tiffany (Allen) Gillis, Sara McRae, Danielle McRae, Krsita McRae, Zach McRae; three great-grandchildren and special friend Bobbette LaVoy, along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Her Uncle Frank Lemke and his family were especially close to her.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, George and Violetta Kimball, father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Dorothy McRae; brothers, Walter Kimball, George Kimball, Ernest Kimball, Delroy Kimball; sisters, Marylyn (John) Shampo and Arlene (Tom) Young.
The family would like to thank the staff at Friendly Village Nursing Home for their compassionate care they gave Clara. A special Thank You to Robertta who provided great comfort to Clara as a caregiver and a friend.
Due to the coronavirus the family plans to hold a celebration of her life at a later date.
