Peter was born and raised in Chicago and attended schools there graduating from high school in 1980. After his schooling he attended college for a couple of years and then went to work. He worked at various jobs in the Chicago area until he became involved in construction. Peter worked for many years as a roofer and he enjoyed his work until an accident forced his retirement. He moved to the Rhinelander area in 2014 and has lived here since.
His move to Rhinelander allowed him to care for his mother for a couple of years before her passing in 2019.
Peter had many interests. He loved to read. listen to blues music and watch classic movies. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, riding his four-wheeler in the woods and fishing in the evening when he could.
Peter is survived by his sisters Amy Cummins, Patti (John Tietjen) Cummins, Christine (Sean) Lynch, Margaret (Larry) McDermott, Mary (Mike) Strenski and Jackie (John) Grobe, his brothers Paul (Diana) Cummins, David (Kelli) Cummins and Brian (Leslie) Cummins, many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
