Jack was raised in Hiles and attended school there until it closed after his junior year of high school. He graduated from Crandon High School in 1952. He received a full scholarship to Milwaukee School of Engineering and later transferred to UW-Milwaukee which he attended until volunteering for service in the Army. He served from 1955-1957. He then began his career at Tele-Tech TV in Milwaukee with his brothers Harry and Pete. On May 3, 1958 Jack married Barbara Yocum of Crandon.That same year, his brothers established a second store in Rhinelander which Jack eventually owned and operated for 43 years until his retirement in 1996.
God blessed Jack & Barb with 62 years of marriage, three children and his grandsons Jack & Charles, whom he often described as the light of his life.
Jack was a faithful servant of God, active in Grace Foursquare Church serving on its Board of Elders for many years. He was dedicated to spreading the word of God via bible distributions with the Gideons, eventually becoming President of the local Chapter of Gideons International.
His other passion was deer hunting. He loved walking through the woods, working on deer stands and hosting an annual "Venison Feed" for his fellow hunters at "the shack" in Crandon.
Jack is survived by his daughter Jennifer (Mark) Davidson, his son Jeffrey (Michele) Antonuk, his grandsons Jack and Charles, other family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara on June 16, 2020, his daughter Julie, his granddaughter Nina, his sisters Mary, Anne and Shirley and his brothers Harry, Pete, Alex, John and Adam.
Services for Jack will be held at the Grace Foursquare Church at 1 p.m. with visiting hours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020. All present social distancing rules will apply for both the visitation and services. Masks are mandatory. He will be laid to rest at Newbold Memorial Cemetery immediately following the service.You may leave your private condolences for the Antonuk family at www.carlsonfh.com.
