William J. Fritz, age 86, of Rhinelander, died on Aug. 17, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Aug. 4, 1934 in Chicago, the son of William and Mildred (Brown) Fritz.

Bill moved to Rhinelander with his family in 1953. He joined the Army and then went to work at St. Regis Paper Co. where he was employed for 41 years.

On Aug. 17, 1957, he married Gladys (Miller) Fritz and enjoyed 63 years of marriage.

Outside of work, he enjoyed numerous sports: Muny League Baseball, horsehoes, and was on a couple of bowling leauges. He ran the Fritz Bowling Tournament along with his wife, in honor of his Uncle Al Fritz, which brought in bowlers from all over. Bill also loved to garden, snowmobile, hunt and fish; although the deer were not afraid of him.

Bill was better known as "Pal" because he was a sweet and caring man and everyone's pal!

He was a fantastic dancer, had the greatest sense of humor and always the fun of the party. He told some great stories and was a fantastic cook. The grandkids loved his chicken dumpling soup, homemade pizza and cinnamon rolls on Sundays. It was always fun to listen to he and his brothers banter jokes back and forth. His love and sense of humor will carry on through all those who were blessed enough to know him.

Bill is survived by his wife Gladys (Miller), his daughters Terri (Timothy) Ripp of Rhinelander, and Toni Fritz of Green Bay; his sons Daniel (Tina) Fritz and William Fritz of Rhinelander. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, his brother Richard Fritz, cousin Raymond (Mary) Dust, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert; cousin Delores Wawrzyniak; brother-in-law, Lawrence Jay Miller; sisters-in-law, Sandra Fritz and Fran Fritz; mother and father-in-law, Jack and Esther Miller and great-granddaughter, Isabella.

On his final days, my Dad said, "This is not Goodbye, but I'll see you another time."

His favorite quote was: "Family, where life begins and love never ends!"

Bill greeted and left everyone with "Humma, Humma" so here's to a last "Humma Humma" to everyone!

"Dad, you will be forever in our hearts and mind as we go about our daily lives. Rest in Peace."

The family would like to thank all those involved with Ascension Home Health Care and the Hospice Care teams.

They were especially compassionate, kind and a Godsend to Bill and the family. Because of the present situation no services will be held at this time.
