Poll workers at the City of Rhinelander polling stations saw lower than normal in-person voting through 1 p.m. Tuesday. Aug. 11, 2020. But that didn't mean the workers didn't have anything to do as each absentee and mail-in ballot had to be opened, checked into the voter rolls and then fed into the ballot counter. Here Jennifer Anderson and Joel Knutson work on ballots while Mary Moxon and Myles Alexander consult on a ballot. According to city clerk Val Foley, 1,197 people requested absentee ballots for the August election, but it isn't yet known how many of those made up the 1,226 total votes cast in the city. County clerk Tracy Hartman said the final figures won't be known until after the Board of Canvas certifies the results. Photo by Jamie Taylor/River News.
