"If there's one thing the pandemic has taught us, it's that the health of our people and the health of our economy are intertwined," WEDC Secretary Missy Hughes said in a press release. "That's why WEDC is encouraging Wisconsin businesses and citizens to adopt the necessary practices and behaviors for our state to continue its progress toward reopening with confidence. We're All In is a collaborative initiative built upon a rallying cry that reminds us all that when it comes to the well-being of Wisconsin, We're all in this together."
The initiative seeks to share "best practices" for preventing the spread of COVID-19, such as social distancing, mask wearing, hand washing, disinfecting surfaces and staying home from work when ill. The hope is that this will prevent further spread of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
Stickers with the We're All In logo are being distributed so businesses can assure visitors they are part of the initiative, Hughes noted in the press release.
Melinda Childs, community cultural development director at ArtStart, led Rikkers on a short walking tour of Brown Street that included stops at Diane's Frame Shoppe and Tilly's coffee shop.
At Tilly's, Rikkers asked the workers how the plexiglass placed between them and their customers was working out, and he learned it makes hearing orders clearly a challenge sometimes.
He also talked about other safety and cleaning precautions the food establishment has implemented.
The We're All In initiative has presences on both Facebook and Instagram, where "citizens and businesses can show their support for and participate" the press release noted.
