She was born on Feb. 18, 1933 in Rhinelander, to Raymond and Tressie (Johnson) Reader.
Janice, also known as "Granny Green" by her grandchildren, was a lifelong resident of Rhinelander.
She attended schools here graduating from Rhinelander High School.
She married Bernard Wanty on Nov. 27, 1954 and he preceded her in death on May 17, 1996.
Besides raising five children Janice also was employed by St. Mary's Hospital and the Friendly Village Nursing Home as an aide.
In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, baking and playing cards. She had been a member of the First Congregational Church in Rhinelander.
Janice is survived by her daughters Jessie (George) Neuber, Jill (Tony) Schroeder and Tina Wanty, her sons Jeff Wanty and Bernard "Wimpy" (Cathy) Wanty Jr., 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, her sister Emily Brown, her brothers Roger (Ruth) Reader and Carl (Edna) Reader, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandson Michael Wanty.
Janice loved her family and will be missed by them and her many friends.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, only private family services for Janice will be held at this time.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date when able. Janice will be laid to rest in the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery.
