Michelle attended elementary school at Zion Evangelical Lutheran School and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1978. Michelle was part of the student council all four years and served as class president several times. She attended Western Technical College in La Crosse and received her associate degree in Early Childhood Education. She completed her bachelor's degree in early childhood development from Silver Lake College. She was employed by Nicolet College for over 30 years and was the Child Care Center and Development Lab Director for over 10 years. She taught college level courses and was an extraordinary mentor for many college students, parents, and children of the child care center and the community.
Michelle married David Mark Conrath of Dolton, Ill. in 1981. They were blessed with an only child, Joanna Lynne Conrath, in 1983.
Michelle was baptized, confirmed, and was an active lifelong member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and resident of Rhinelander. The Church was her foundation and she loved giving back in various degrees; one that was dear to her heart was teaching Sunday School.
She is survived by her daughter Joanna (Alan) Salis, her mother Joan Conn Spengler, her father Hugo "Cook" (Sandy) Schoeneck, Jr., her brother Brian (Sharlene) Schoeneck, nephew Joshua (Jackie Davis) Schoeneck, nieces Jessica (Dustin Miller) and Jennifer (Adam Ehmann) Schoeneck; step-siblings, many great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Hugo and Ella Schoeneck, Richard and Alvira Conn; her stepfather Ronald Spengler; and her significant other Richard Sumiejski.
