Workers began demolition work last week on what is left of the Crystal Rock Roller Rink. Mother Nature lent a hand back in early February when the roof of the unused structure collapsed. The building had been unused and for sale for many years when it was purchased by Louis Barbera in October 2019. Plans to build storage units on the property were approved in December, according to the Town of Crescent clerk Tracy Hartman. Prior to being a roller rink, the building was home to Crystal Rock Ballroom where up and coming music acts would stop to play concerts in the '50s and '60s. Among the legends to play at Crystal Rock were Buddy Holly and Johnny Cash. Photo by Jamie Taylor/River News.
