Robert was born in Antigo on Friday, Oct. 23, 1925, the son of Leo and Lena (Hohensee) Duchrow.
He grew up on the family farm in Antigo, attended Peace Lutheran Grade School and was a 1943 graduate of Antigo High School.
Upon completion of high school, Bob entered the United States Navy and proudly served his country during World War II being stationed in the Philippines. He was discharged from the Navy in 1947.
In September, 2013, Bob and his brother Marvin, participated in the Never Forgotten Honor Flight trip to Washington DC, an experience he cherished.
Robert met his future wife, Lois Brottmiller, at an outdoor concert in Merrill. The couple later were married in Merrill on April 3, 1948. They moved to Milwaukee and eventually settled in Cedarburg. During this time Bob was employed with Schlitz Brewery for over 35 years. He retired from Schlitz in 1982 and was later employed part-time with the Cedarburg School District.
In 1991, Bob and Lois moved to Merrill. Lois passed away in 1999 and Bob moved to Rhinelander in 2001.
Bob enjoyed fishing, gardening, and loved to cook. He baked the best homemade bread. He will be remembered for his love of animals, his great story-telling ability, his sense of humor and his good heart.
He will be dearly missed by his children: Nola Grzanna of Milwaukee, Lori Duchrow of Rhinelander, and Alan Duchrow of Rhinelander; one granddaughter; Tara Mann of Orlando, Florida, and two brothers, Marvin Duchrow of Phlox and Ronald Duchrow of Antigo, a brother-in-law; Louis Miller of Dousman, and his four-legged feline companion, Wyatt.
Also surviving are nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois; son-in-law Robert Grzanna, two brothers Arnold (Verona) Duchrow and Norman (Edna) Duchrow and one sister, Anita Miller.
At Robert's request, there will be no visitation or service.
