The leaves on the trees indicate fall is here, but the Rhinelander High School Nordic ski team is already beginning to think about winter. The team held a biathlon training day at the Cedric A. Vig Outdoor Classroom Saturday, Sept. 21.

Biathlon is an Olympic sport that combines cross country skiing with marksmanship, as athletes are tasked with stopping during the race at a shooting range to shoot down targets. They face a penalty for missing the targets.

The Hodags made some adaptations to the event, running with ski poles and using paintball guns to fire at the targets.
