Patricia Morey, 94, of Rhinelander passed peacefully into eternal life on Sept. 11, 2019 at her home surrounded by family. Pat was born on March 16, 1925 to the late William and Frances (nee Furtak) Naylor.
Pat attended Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School and Gage Park High School in Chicago. After high school, she moved to Rhinelander with her family where she met her husband-to-be, Chester (Chet) Morey. Pat was employed at the Bell Telephone Company until her marriage to Chet in 1943. After Chet was sent overseas in World War II, Pat joined the U.S. Marine Corps Women's Reserve. She was stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C. for boot camp and later at Henderson Hall Marine Corps Base in Arlington, Va., where she worked primarily at the Pentagon.
After World War II, Pat and Chet settled in Rhinelander, where they raised their family of four. Pat and Chet enjoyed 68 years of marriage. After their children were raised, Pat worked as a clerk at the Tasty Bakery for 14 years. Pat and Chet were active at the Oneida County Senior Center and delivered meals to homebound people for two years. Pat was a voracious reader and was especially proud to have served in the U.S. Marine Corps. She would not hesitate to let people know that, "Once a Marine; Always a Marine".
Pat is survived by her daughters, Diane Morey of Rhinelander, Linda Morey of Conway, Ark., Mary Jean (Romeo) Ty of Corona, Calif.; her daughter-in-law, Susan Morey of Elkins Park, Penn.; her furbaby, Shadow the cat; her sister, Mary Jean Naylor of Paramount, Calif. and one brother, William (Judy) Naylor of Wheatland, Calif.
