Raymond "Ray" E. Pelletier, age 83, of Rhinelander, died Sept. 8, 2019, in Tomahawk, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Ray was born Nov. 27, 1935, in Rhinelander, to Arthur and Sarah (Ludwig) Pelletier. He was a lifelong resident of Rhinelander and proud of it. He attended schools in Rhinelander graduating from the Rhinelander High School in 1953.

After his schooling Ray had a couple of busy years. He served in the National Guard and had achieved the rank of Sergeant at the time of his honorable discharge in 1961. Ray also started his career as a printer during this time as he went to work for J-N-J printing in 1954. Then on Aug. 25, 1956, Ray married Katherine Calkins. They just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Ray eventually purchased the J-N-J Printing business and renamed it Northland Printing. He operated the business with his son Mark until just recently when health concerns forced his retirement. I say forced because Ray loved his work. He worked at least 6 days a week for the greater part of 60 years. He operated the business downtown, then on Eagle St and then in their own building on Pinos St. At one time or another over the years, Ray got to work with both of his sons, his wife and grandchildren. He was proud of his business and his family.

In the little spare time he had, Ray always headed north. He loved going to Lake Superior and all the different waterfalls in the UP. Bonn falls was his favorite. He took many pictures of the lake, the waterfalls and the historic sites connected to the lake. He was a big Wisconsin sports fan. He kept track of the Hodags, Badgers, Brewers, Bucks and Packers and he had opinions on all of them. A couple of years ago Ray suffered a broken neck and then a stroke. Because of those health issues he ended up living at the Riverview Nursing Home in Tomahawk. He loved the people that took care of him there and they loved having Ray.

Ray is survived by his wife Katherine, his son Mark (Nicole) Pelletier, his grandchildren Kyle, Katie and Kiley, his great granddaughter Casey, his brother Donald (Catherine) Pelletier, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Brian and his brothers Robert and Patrick "Kurt".

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Sept. 16, 2019 at noon, with visitation from 10 a.m. until noon, all at the Carlson Funeral Home.

Interment will take place in the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery. You may leave your private condolences for the Pelletier family at www.carlsonfh.com. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is handling the arrangements for the Pelletier family.
