September stacked full of hunting season openers

The early teal duck season is already open and it runs through Sept. 9. Then duck hunters in the north have to wait a couple weeks until Sept. 28 when the regular duck season opens and runs through the Dec. 26.
The youth duck hunt is Sept. 14-15 and is open to youth hunters age 10-15 who are hunter safety certified or participating in a mentored hunt. Young hunters must be accompanied by an adult for the youth duck hunt. All other state license requirements are waived for the youth hunt except HIP registration and a Canada goose permit. Bag limits and tag requirements apply.
Early Canada goose season is also already open, in designated areas, and it runs through Sept. 15. Then, with proper license and stamps, honker hunters can basically keep right on hunting as the regular Canada goose season opens up in the North Exterior zone on Sept. 16 and runs through Dec. 16.
Black bear hunting opened on Sept. 4 and runs through Oct. 8.
Those are the seasons already up and running. On Saturday, Sept. 14 the party really gets started.
The archery and crossbow deer season opens up in the north on Sept. 14 and runs through Jan. 5.
Fall turkey hunting also opens up on Sept. 14 and runs through Jan. 5 in Zones 1-5 and Nov. 22 in Zones 6-7.
Ruffed grouse season opens up in the north (Zone A) on Sept. 14 and runs through Dec. 31. The southern ruffed grouse season (Zone B ) opens Oct. 19 and runs through Dec. 8.
Cottontail rabbit season also opens up in the north on Sept. 14 and runs through Feb. 29.
Gray and fox squirrel season begins on Sept. 14 as well and runs through Jan. 31.
Fall crow season also opens up on Sept. 14.
And finally, woodcock season opens up on Sept. 21 and runs through Nov. 4.
The fall season comes up quick and goes by even quicker, so get ready, be safe, and happy hunting.
