Ione Louise Stanzil
Ione was born on Wheeler Island in Three Lakes on Oct. 2, 1927 to Herbert and Nettie Louise Otto. Her family eventually moved to Onalaska, where Ione was raised as eldest daughter among eight siblings. When their father died, shortly before Ione's senior year in high school, Ione returned to Three Lakes to be near maternal grandparents. She found employment as a laundress at the Rod and Gun Club. Upon graduation from Three Lakes High School, Ione then served as a secretary at Fort McCoy.
She married Arthur Stanzil in 1947 after his discharge from the Army
Industrious and intelligent, Ione was invited to serve as a bookkeeper for Kroening Engineering in Milwaukee. For many years she also assisted her husband in that capacity when he became a local Standard Oil Agent. Ione served as a Sunday School Superintendent for Grace Lutheran Church in Three Lakes.
She was a deeply devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Ione is survived by her children: Lynn (Al) Goodrich and Hugh (Sue) Stanzil; grandchildren: Maria (Gregg Wilmes), Hugh (Jennifer) and Erin Goodrich and Matthew (Courtney) Stanzil. Also surviving are great-grandchildren: Kolton, Andrew, Elizabeth, Seamus and Orin.
Ione is further survived by sisters, Jane Macdonald, Norma Vernon, Vada Martinez and Frieda Beltran; brother, Herbert Otto, and by many nieces and nephews and cherished friend, Wilma Helmick.
Along with her parents, Ione was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years; brothers, Edward and Elwin Otto, and sister, Evelyn Marcotte.
Ione was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle River.
Her family has been provided services of Christian comfort by Pastor Joshua Odell.

The visitation for Ione will take place on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019 at the Hildebrand Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service.
Rev. Joshua Odell will be officiating. Immediately following the funeral service, there will be a procession to the Three Lakes Cemetery where a committal service will take place.
