At the age of three, Kris moved with her parents to Rhinelander in 1971. She graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1987 and then attended the University of Wisconsin - Platteville where she earned her degree in Criminal Justice.
Kris was employed as a probation agent for the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections, Division of Probation and Parole for 15 years; working in Taylor County and then in Oneida County. She was often described as a probation agent with the heart of a social worker who always looked for the good in people. More recently, she was employed as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in the Lake Tomahawk area.
Kris truly enjoyed that work and the people she met along the way. Kris enjoyed living in northern Wisconsin. She loved deer hunting, ice fishing, gardening, and was a dedicated fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. She especially loved spending time with family and friends. Special times were spent attending the Hodag Country Festival and fan bus trips with friends. Kris will be remembered and missed for her kindness, quick wit, and her positive spirit.
Kristin is survived by her parents, Gary and Karen Knudson of Rhinelander; her brother, Erik (Jennifer) Knudson and niece, Emma of Madison; her dog, Casey; and special friend, Richard Dalka.
The family wishes to thank the loyal friends who supported Kris throughout her journey with cancer.
A memorial service for Kris will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at the Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) with Chaplain Jennifer LaPorte officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. You may leave your private condolences for the Knudson family at www.carlsonfh.com.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests support of a memorial to be established in Kris's name and contributions may be directed in care of her family.
