Vancos receives AARP award
Bill Vancos of Rhinelander was presented with the 2019 Andrus Award for Community Service Thursday, Oct. 17 at the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry. An AARP representative presented the award which is bestowed annually in each of the 50 states to recognize efforts by volunteers who best uphold the values AARP founder Ethel Percy Andrus. As part of the honor, AARP also made a $1,000 donation to the food pantry in Vancos's name. Guy Hansen, food pantry executive director, is shown above receiving the check from AARP Wisconsin State Director Sam Wilson and Vancos. At right, Vancos looks at Andrus Award winner Nancy Brissee after receiving the trophy. Brissee nominated Vancos for this year's honor.
