Northwoods Fall Art Tour returns Oct. 11-13
The largest ever group of artists is enriching the colorful display by inviting visitors and neighbors to join in an adventure in art that is the annual Northwoods Fall Art Tour, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily Friday through Sunday, Oct. 11-13. The free tour is the largest in the group's 20-year history, featuring 38 locations and 41 artists who have joined together to open their private creative spaces to the public, organizers said in a press release.
The tour is organized as 38 open houses meandering the back roads through charming communities in Iron, Vilas, Oneida, and Lincoln counties.
Artists will be demonstrating their skills at each location.
Guests create their own itinerary by choosing which locations to visit and how long to stay at each site.

The tour welcomes eight new members this year. What follows are short bios of each artists.
Wood carver John Reichling creates hand painted decorative duck, fish and spearing decoys in his Studio 57, Boulder Junction.
Christine Metropolis-Frederich expresses her love of children and all creatures great and small through her paintings and drawings at her Backroads Art and Design Studio, Minocqua.
Phyllis Schuit expresses her passion for color in hand woven scarves, hand knit hats and hand embroidered thread paintings at her Textured Elegance Studio, Hazelhurst.
Jenny Gibson uses a 100-year-old World War I and World War II sock machines to make her custom socks. Her Hazelhurst studio also features fingerless gloves, scarves, and other local art.
Walter Allen creates hand carved wooden bowls and vessels and will share his work as a guest at Outback Studio in Irma.
Another guest artist, Jeanne Debbink, creates fun and functional one-of-a-kind handbags combining distinctive upholstery fabrics. She will also be demonstrating at Pigeon Road Pottery, Lake Tomahawk.
Wendy Hutchinson-Powalosz will show her bold paintings with compositions based on myth and reality at her Blue Raven Studio in Conover.
Woodworker Steve Klemann produces functional classic or cabin rustic furniture at Steve's Handcrafted Furniture, Land O'Lakes.
"In addition to the new members, returning artists offer a wide variety of styles and media, painting in acrylic, watercolor, oil, pastel, inks; drawing, fused and stained glass, woodworking, weaving and other fiber techniques, pottery, jewelry, sculpture, gourd design, and photography," the release states. "Visitors are sure to find something fresh and new at all studios whether they are looking for inspiration or are on the hunt for something unique and special for gift giving or to elevate their spirit and enliven their personal space."
