Peoples State Bank customers, employees, and the general public donated more than 7,500 items, and over $1,345 in cash, as part of the bank's annual military care package donation drive, bank officials announced in a press release.

Peoples State Bank's eight locations in north and central Wisconsin served as drop-off points for the donation drive, the release states.

The collection of items and cash were donated to the Rhinelander Military Support Group, which sends items to Wisconsin soldiers serving overseas and Wisconsin veterans who are in need of assistance.

"Thank you, thank you," said LeRoy Eades, Rhinelander Military Support Group organizer. "We can't thank everyone enough for the donations, and we know from the cards and letters back from soldiers and veterans, they appreciate everything that comes their way."

The collection drive served as a way for everyone to honor veterans and active military for their service. Donated items included non-perishable food items, batteries, blankets, stamps, and toiletries.

"Peoples is proud to collect donations to support active military service personnel and veterans," said President and CEO Scott Cattanach. "We often take for granted their sacrifice - but enjoy our country's freedoms and security."

Eades and his team of volunteers expect to have the first shipment of items sent out by early the week of Nov. 18, the release states.
