Pelican Elementary School has done it again. The students, staff, and Pelican families raised enough money through popcorn sales to surprise another local veteran with a trip of a lifetime on "The Never Forgotten Honor Flight," school officials announced this week.

Over the past four years, Pelican School has had the honor of sending 12 veterans on this flight, five of which are local veterans, the release states.

This year the school is sponsoring Sergeant Ron Suess. His family was present when he received his surprise ticket. He will be taking his flight next year.

Since 2010, the Never Forgotten Honor Flight organization, based in Wausau, has been flying veterans from central and northern Wisconsin to Washington, D.C. to see the memorials that honor their service. The Honor Flight is one-day round trip where the veterans are accompanied by guardians as they visit the memorials.
