George was born on Oct. 2, 1948, in Chicago, to George P. and Alice Slivinski. He was a 1966 graduate of St. Francis High School in Wheaton, where he recently attended his 50th class reunion. He graduated Great Lakes Naval Academy in 1967. George served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam where he served 3 tours of duty. After returning home, he attended Loyola for 2 years. He married his wife, Marsha, on April 8, 1972 in Winfield, Ill. George worked for General Motors, ComEd, and Birginal Motors in Rhinelander. He also worked for Vilas Co. Social Services and as a Vilas Co. Corrections Officer before his retirement. George was an old car enthusiast. He enjoyed motorcycling, bicycling, fishing, and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his mother,Alice Slivinski. He is survived by his wife, Marsha Slivinski of Three Lakes; daughter, Sarah (Bjorn) Sliv-Hanson of Denver, Colo.; sons, Luke Anthony (Jennifer Hoel) Slivinski of Coon Rapids, Minn. and Zachariah George Slivinski of Cherry Hill, N.J.; his father, George P. Slivinski of Three Lakes; siblings, Alan, Catherine, Mark, Donna, Daniel, and Robert; and 5 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday Nov. 16, 2019 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Three Lakes. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday Nov. 15, 2019 at the Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River and from 10 to 10:30 at the church on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019.
