Audrey was born in Oshkosh on Monday, Sept. 6, 1926, the daughter of Carl and Hildegard (Erdman) Neumann. She grew up in Oshkosh and in 1944 she graduated from Oshkosh High School. Audrey was united in marriage in 1947 to Gerald VanBeynen.
In 1959 the family moved to Rhinelander where they opened the Tasty Bakery. This was back in the day when you could purchase a dozen Danish for 84 cents! The bakery was located at 151 Brown Street. Audrey and Gerald owned the bakery for over 30 years. While they owned the bakery Audrey was in charge and was well known for her cake decorating skills. Upon their retirement the couple moved to Florida and Audrey lived there until moving back to Rhinelander in 2012.
She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. Audrey enjoyed playing cards, trips to the movie theater, crocheting, golfing and a good glass of wine.
She will be dearly missed by her children: Carla Fletcher of Rhinelander, Karen (David) Mittelsteadt of Stevens Point and Mary (Mark) Sturm of International Falls, Minn.; special friend, InaDale Runnels of Flat Rock, N.C., 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Betty, Carol and Linda and three brothers, Carl, Marty and Dan. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald VanBeynen; son, Gerald VanBeynen Jr., son-in-law Gayle Fletcher and a sister, Donna.
At Audrey's request there will be no visitation or service. Interment will take place at a later date at Northland Memorial Park.
