ArtStart announces winter exhibitions and reception
An opening reception for the artists will be held Saturday, Nov. 16 from 5 to 7 p.m., according to an ArtStart press release. Both artists will give a brief gallery talk about their work, the release states.
"Agraria" reflects the setting in which Blietz lives and works.
"My work exhibited here explores the visual narrative of what I consider a humble, hardworking, and well-designed American agrarian scene," he said.
His work often evokes feelings of nostalgia for viewers, reminiscent of times gone by, the release states.
Blietz has had numerous one-person and group exhibitions throughout the country. He lives and works from his 20-acre home/studio in northeast Wisconsin.
Sculptor Meghan Sullivan, originally from Boston, is currently the Uihlein Fellow of Studio Art at Lawrence University in Appleton and exhibits nationally and internationally.
"Revisionist Histories" is a series of figurative ceramic sculptures inspired by classical Greek and Roman sculpture. Sullivan reflects, "this body of work is particularly influenced by the experience of observing the alterations to personality that come with advanced aging and memory loss. What of our personality remains and what of ourselves is lost is a question that has been forefront in my mind."
Gallery hours are Thursday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by appointment. ArtStart is located at 68 South Stevens Street, Rhinelander. There is no admission fee however donations are appreciated.
